Have you ever felt like you’re unhappy with your life at the moment but don’t know why? If so, it could be that you just need to feel like you’re making progress.

I used to feel like that a lot – just unhappy with my life for no clear reason. But, then I learned how progress affects us and how it can change how we feel about our lives!

If you do things that make you feel like you’re making progress, you’ll feel better about yourself and your life. So when you feel down about things, just work on getting up and doing something to make a difference, even if it’s something small. Just get started – small things add up and can still make you feel like you’re making progress.

So, let’s look at three great ways to feel like you’re making progress!

Feel like you’re making progress by getting up & getting started

So, you want to feel better about yourself and your life – and in order for that to happen, you need to feel like you’re making progress.

Well, in order to feel like you’re making progress you first need to be getting up or getting moving toward something – and just get started!

“Those who do not move, do not notice their chains.”

― Rosa Luxemburg

I know you don’t feel like it, but if you’re dreaming of making progress you need to work on getting up and taking action. Get moving toward something, anything, that might matter to you! Just get started.

What else can you do anyway – just sit there in your misery? NO. That will make no difference – it will not improve things.

So, first get up and get moving – and at first it really doesn’t matter what you do as long as you’re doing something.

Do not stay down and depressed – if you just sit there feeling low nothing will change. At least not as long as you’re in that vibration.

So as soon as you finish reading this uplifting blog post on progress, work on getting up to do something!

Trick your mind and tell it you don’t have to do it for long. (This helps me!) I tell myself this and just work on getting up, and then once I get started I’ll often want to do even more.

It’s a great trick. We have our unconscious mind and bad habits working against us sometimes, but little things like this can make a difference.

So, are you getting up yet? As soon as you’re done reading this blog post (and the one I recommend at the end of this post), work on getting up and then just get started on whatever will make you feel like you’re making progress.

Doing something little

Think of doing something little that’ll help you feel like you’re making progress.

As I said earlier, it doesn’t have to be something BIG.

You likely don’t feel like doing much at all, or there will come a time when you won’t. So, at times like this just pick anything that you can get done within a short amount of time.

Then even if you felt like crap before, you’ll feel a little better after having accomplished something

And, that small accomplishment will often give you more energy and enough of a mindset change that you’ll want to do more.

This is how small things make a difference – they add up and can give you what you need so you can do even more.

So instead of sitting or laying there feeling awful, get up and complete a short task.

Anyway, what have you got to lose?

The worst that can happen is that I’m wrong and you don’t feel better – but, I can honestly tell you this has made a big change in my life and definitely makes me feel like I’m making progress.

Here’s a great quote for progress!

“I am a slow walker, but I never walk back.”

― Abraham Lincoln

So, think of doing something little that’ll make you feel good and feel like you’re making progress.

What will you do?

Make a list to feel like you’re making progress

Yes, make a list!

You might think that making a list of all the things you need to do will make you feel worse – that it will overwhelm you. But, as you check things off that list you’ll get a wonderful, accomplished feeling! The feeling of making progress – even if it’s just one small thing you crossed off.

So, make a list of like three to six things you need to get done. It doesn’t have to be a long list or a complicated one, and you can really put however many things you want on it.

It’s the checking things off that makes a difference here. It’ll give you a sense of progress that’ll help boost your confidence, knowing that you’re making a difference.

I think we can endure most things if we just feel like we’re making improvement or making a difference – if we just feel like we’re headed in the right direction.

So, you might want to get you one of those small, handheld little notebooks and hook a pen on it for making your progress list. (I have several that I use for different things!)

Conclusion: Feel like you’re making progress

Remember that it’s important to feel like you’re making progress.

Sometimes without it things can seem pointless, and that’s why I wanted to make this post. I don’t ever want you to give up, thinking that it’s all pointless!

So, don’t forget to do these three things to feel like you’re making progress:

  • Whether it’s exercise or a task that needs done, you’ll feel better after you get moving. So, get up & get moving!
  • Pick something small to do that can be done within a short amount of time, building your confidence in yourself, in what you can accomplish, & in the fact that at least you’re making some kind of progress.
  • Make a small list of a few or more things that need to be done, so that you can check them off as you finish them & actually see progress being made.

Push forward, and progress will come – and then you’ll feel better!

And remember that there’s always hope, and things can always get better. Progress can always be made, even if it’s not as much and as quick as we’d like.

There’s also always a bigger picture, and we often only see a small part of it when we’re overwhelmed or feeling down.

I absolutely love this quote on progress. Let it inspire you, and really think about it:

“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.”

― Winston S. Churchill

Just get started and never give up, and progress will come.

If you do this, plus you’re doing something that matters to you, you’re bound to make a difference and feel good!
