When you have balance in your life, everything will flow much easier and days will be more peaceful. And, they’ll be less chaos in your life. I think everyone wants more peace and life balance, but creating balance isn’t always as easy as it sounds.

Ever seen someone and thought, “They look like they naturally have it all together. Why can’t I be like that?” But, the truth is that no one just wakes up one day with a perfectly balanced life. You have to create it.

So, use these tips to build a more balanced and peaceful life…

7 tips for living a balanced life are:

  • Design your ideal life
  • Take good care of yourself
  • Have the right mindset
  • Create good social networks
  • Protect yourself from negativity
  • Know your values & boundaries
  • Prioritize your time & energy

If you work on these seven things, you’ll be on your way toward a more fulfilling and enjoyable life. So, let’s talk more about each of them!

There are seven tips here for living a balanced life, but don’t get overwhelmed thinking that you need to work on all of them at once.

Overloading yourself or striving for perfection can lead to overwhelm and exhaustion and can actually prevent you from meeting your goals. So, you’ll probably do best if you work on one at a time at first.

And, enjoy the process. After all, the whole point of this is to make your life more fulfilling and enjoyable!

#1 Live a balanced life by designing it that way

If you want to start living a balanced life that you love and enjoy, you’ll need to design it that way.

Like I said before, although certain people look like they won the perfect and balanced life lottery, it doesn’t work that way. But, you can design your life the way you want it to be. And, this is good news!

In your mind, you need to figure out and be able to see what kind of life you want to have and how you want it to make you feel.

By doing this you’re setting yourself up for the life that you want, which is awesome! So, why not take control of your life and have it be the way you want it? (Sure beats just letting it turn out however it’s going to.)

So, what does balance mean to you? If you could have a “balanced” lifestyle, what would that look like?

I’m talking about different areas to work on in your life today, but still fall back on what you decided was most important to have in your life. Never let someone else make you feel your life should be a certain way. It’s yours!

#2 Take good care of yourself

In order to start living a balanced life, you’ll want to make sure you’re taking good care of yourself.

Are you eating well? Could you get more sleep? These are two important ways to take good care of yourself. And, the way you eat affects your brain. It even affects how clear minded and focused you can be.

Also, when you sleep a lot is happening, like your mind processing things you’ve learned throughout the day. (When I learned this it made me think about how much sleep I’m getting, because I’m always trying to learn and improve and I want to get the most out of it.)

So, how can YOU take better care of yourself?

And, remember that there are other ways to take care of yourself besides just eating and sleeping. And, all of this is part of creating life balance so that you can enjoy life more!

#3 Have the right mindset

With the right mindset, you can get a lot done and go a lot further. So keep your life balanced by taking care of your mind. It’ll be worth it!

Our bodies are great, but we use our minds to control our bodies. So, don’t neglect the mind – and do work on having the right mindset. 

Don’t stay stressed out and out of control. Instead, do whatever you need to do to feel centered, balanced, and relaxed. This is important!

I’m not going to tell you to meditate, do yoga, or do relaxing breathing techniques that you can look up online (but you can if you want). But, what I will say is that everyone can find what centers their mind and that it’s okay if your way is different than mine. 

So, find what helps you to be able to cope better, think better, and feel more relaxed.

#4 Have healthy, positive social networks

If you want a balanced life you can enjoy, consider looking at your social networks. Building the right social networks really can improve your life and make it feel more balanced. 

When I say healthy, positive social networks, I’m thinking of friends, family, groups, and organizations that add to your life and are good for you. And, I know this isn’t always easy to find. 

Some people or groups won’t be right for you – they might bring you down instead of up. Steer clear of these! 

You want to add as much positive to your life as possible, while staying away from negative things or people as much as you can. It’s so important! Surround yourself with things and people that make you feel good.

So, how are your social networks right now and how could you improve them? The right ones will be supportive and line up with your values and beliefs. They’ll add to your life in a positive way.

On the other hand, too much of the wrong people in your life or having no social networks will take away from the balance and fulfillment in your life. So, keep this in mind.

Now, have fun thinking of ways to improve and strengthen your social networks! They can be there to go on healthy walks with or to share family activities with. Having good social networks is important and adds to our lives, so allow for some social time regularly.

#5 Have a plan for dealing with negative people

Next, we need to talk about having a plan for dealing with negative people in your life.

You may have heard me suggest surrounding yourself with positive social networks and thought well I have someone in my life that’s negative and there’s nothing I can do about it. (Especially if you’re close to that person, like if it’s family, because then it can seem harder to deal with.)

In this case, you might just do your best to shorten the time you spend with that person or counteract it with lots of positive things after the interaction to stay well balanced. (But really, you have to make the choice that sits well with you and that’s best for you and your situation.)

The idea is to try to control the things that you can and protect yourself as much as possible. You don’t want to constantly allow others to make you feel drained or bad in some way. So just be aware of how you’re feeling and how you’re affected by others, and take time to yourself to recharge and recenter when you need it.

#6 Know the values & boundaries that you’d like to have

living a balanced life

Now, let’s talk about values and boundaries.

It’s good to be conscious of what your values are so that you can more easily set boundaries. And, these boundaries will help keep you and your life aligned and balanced, with your life going the way you want it to.

If you’re being true to your own values, you’ll feel more balanced. You’ll feel okay not letting toxic people drain you of your positive energy, saying no when it feels right to do so, and overall doing what feels right for you.

So, one more question. What are the values and boundaries that you want to be front and center in your life? Think of those that’ll keep you feeling balanced, centered, and protected.

If you can’t think of any, you might think of what’s most important to you. What’s most important in order for you to have peace and joy? What’s most important in order for you to have the kind of like you’d prefer to live?

#7 Prioritize your time & energy

The last tip I have for life balance is to try to prioritize your time and energy (and this goes along with some of what I said concerning values). But, it’s important enough that it needs its own section!

After all, who hasn’t struggled with prioritizing their time before? I know I have, and it can affect a lot. It can truly make the difference between feeling that you have life balance or not.

So, think of ways that you could make life run more smoothly for you (and your family if you have one). Most of us often just go day to day without thinking about this, just doing what we’re used to doing. But the simplest of changes could make a difference in the quality of our lives.

Think about it. If you just changed the way you do three things in a day, and each of those things usually took ten minutes but you cut them down to five, you’ve just saved yourself fifteen minutes. Now, you’re like BIG DEAL. But, hang on. That also equals almost two hours a week!

This is just one example to get you inspired again and looking at things with fresh eyes.

Time is important, we all know that. After all, we only have so much of it in a day. So, you might want to get the most out of it. (This is especially helpful if you’ve been feeling stressed or like there isn’t enough time in the day.)
